I made sugar cookies for the holidays. And let's just say the kitchen gods were not very kind to me that day.
Lots of drama went into this, firstly I had to convert the recipe into metric system (confusing! &@F#%*&@#@!!!!), then I had to use a loaner tabletop oven (with temperature setting in Celsius; again had to convert- from Fahrenheit). Cutting out the cookies was a pain in the @$$ because of the humid weather so everything was sticking to the cookie cutters and tabletop; flour flying everywhere. And because I wasn’t familiar with the borrowed oven, I completely burnt the first batch of cookies that went in. Gave myself a nasty blister too as my hand accidentally bumped into the wire rack when I was quickly taking out the burn victims outta the oven. Let me tell ya, 350 degrees F = supposed to be 176.67 degrees C. I set the oven temp to 175 degrees C, but that resulted in an almost instantaneous burn. These cookies browned super fast so I had to keep dialing down the oven temp, until it was aaaaaaalllll the way to 85 degrees C!!!
The worst had to be the surge protector and bags of sugar + flour that were sitting on top of the oven. Items mentioned were made of plastic, while oven was encased in metal. So as you can imagine, things got really hot and the surge protector began to melt. *GASPS* Yes, it had other appliances plugged in. I nearly caused an electrical fire in the kitchen, OMIGOD!!! And again, in my frenzy I picked up the melted bags of sugar and flour from the oven top resulting in these ingredients to spill all over the entire kitchen countertop and floor.

I nearly banged my head into the wall from all these crazy events happening one after another. But all was well in the end, as I took some time out to decompress and mentally checked out for a bit (after cleaning up all the mess I’ve caused, of course).
All in all, I gotta say I am mighty pleased with the way my cookies turned out. The decorating process wasn’t too difficult and it was quite enjoyable in fact. Labour of love, can we say? Heh!
Happy Holidays to you and all of your loved ones! *xoxo*
