Introduction to Chakra

The first time I heard the word “chakra” was during freshman year yoga class at FIT, as I was lying down on the wooden floors in the gym. I know, right? Going to art school rocks, because you get to take yoga classes and fall asleep during class to fulfill your phys-ed credits. Heh! So during this one particular class, my yoga teacher was verbally guiding us along as we meditated together, and she said something like “… Feel your breath moving through your body, up the spine and imagine the energy moving along your chakra points, from the base chakra to the crown chakra…”

A person can collect energy from several different levels of vibrations that are utilized in various parts of the body. Throughout our body we have main energy centers and each of these main energy centers are referred to as chakra— chakra is a Sanskrit word which means wheel. A chakra is a wheel-like spinning vortex that whirls in a circular motion forming a vacuum in the center that draws in anything it encounters on its particular vibratory level.

It is believed that we have seven main chakra centers and that each main center is connected to our being on several different levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. On the physical level each chakra governs a main organ or gland, which is then connected to other body parts that resonate the same frequency. The seven main chakra centers are aligned along the spinal column. If there are disturbances on any level (for example, when we’re stressed, or ill, or depressed), this shows in the chakra’s vitality level. Also each of the seven main chakras is their own intelligence center. This means that each chakra is not only associated with our physical health but also controls aspects connected to our emotional, mental and belief system.

To understand more about chakras, check out the colorful and informative Chakra Charts on the Moonberry Facebook page. (Uhm, yes, that’s *my* Facebook page.)

To help balance a chakra– whether on an emotional, intellectual, physical or spiritual level– we need to bring in the chakra vibration, which resonates at the same frequency. When one part of a chakra center is out of sync it may eventually effect its other parts and possibly its neighboring chakra. When a chakra center is out of balance it generally means that it is over-active or under-active, or possibly congested or blocked. If this happens it is usually felt on a mental, emotional or physical level. Therefore it is very important to balance our chakras and unblock the areas where energy may have gotten stuck at.

Adonis Signature 7-Chakras Treatment

The Moonberry Blog

The Signature 7-Chakras Treatment at Adonis Beauty addresses the need to balance our chakras via aromatherapy. In case you missed it in the paragraphs above, the chakras are connected to our physical well-being. So if you’re feeling tired and stressed, for example, chances are there’s an imbalance of chakras in your system. Regular balancing of your chakras can improve your health. The treatment at Adonis uses a series of aromatherapy oils, applied on our chakra points to soothe and balance anything that may be out of sync. This treatment is 2.5 hours long and it is a combination of full body massage and a mini-facial using certified authentic aromatherapy oils, so it’s a very indulgent treatment that feels super duper good all over. I think we all need to have this 2.5 hr break and check out from the real world from time to time. Life is stressful and hectic as they always will be, the world ain’t gonna stop revolving whether or not you continue spinning inside the hamster wheel, so… take my advice, you might as well give yourself a vacation for 2.5 hr. :P

Benefits of Chakra Balancing

“Oh, so it’s a massage with aromatherapy oils, right?” you ask. Yes, it is. Beyond the massage, I believe that the aromatherapy oils do have an energizing effect after being applied to the appropriate chakra points. It probably won’t be an immediate effect for everyone, but you must trust that there is a positive change taking place in your system after a chakra session. Some benefits of balancing your chakras:

  • Ability to relax and sleep better at night.
  • Help you to feel more grounded and obtain spiritual awakening.
  • Release unwanted energies, restore the natural healthy flow of your own vibration.
  • Get over emotional blockages.
  • Feel more energetic and less sluggish.
  • Reduce stress and alleviate depression.
  • Increase self esteem.
  • Improve concentration and acquire clarity of thought.
  • Strengthen your immune system and keep diseases away.
  • Obtain a sense of inner peace/calmness and happiness.
  • Greater capacity to express and attract love in your life.

By the way, this is not some new-age mambojumbowhatchamacallits. Ask yourself this: can you see air? No. But can you FEEL air? Yes. So it’s the same thing with energy, you can definitely feel it but you don’t usually see it unless it’s thru a reaction with something. The study of chakras, auras, spiritual lights, etc. is all based on energy and we know that energy can be shifted and transferred. So there you go.

How I know that the chakra balancing treatment has a positive effect on me is through my personal experience of sleeping at 4am, waking up past noon from a non-restful sleep, really poor appetite and not eating well (during the week prior to getting this treatment), to clocking in 15 hours of deep, restful sleep (right after I got back from the treatment) as well as improved appetite the next day.

I love this treatment so much and it is by far my favorite. If When I emerge as winner in this blogging category, I’m going to use my prize to get a 7-Chakra treatment once a week. How’s that for a weekly vacation? :D You know, I was gonna get the aromatherapy oil set from Adonis so that I can enjoy them at home. But then I thought, there’s no way I can recreate the 2.5 hr of sheer pampering bliss at home and there are many Adonis outlets in Singapore, so I’d rather go there and let them do the magic for me. :p Yeah, it’s that good. So I MUST win this!!! :) :) :)

I urge everyone to try out this Signature 7-Chakra Treatment at any of these Adonis outlets near you:
