Here’s the review of our new Deebot T9 robo vacuum cleaner.
This Deebot T9 robo vacuum from Ecovacs has definitely made my daily household chores much easier. Now that traveling has resumed normalcy and I have begun going on overseas trips with my parents again, it was imperative that we do not come home to an apartment littered with fur-bunnies.
Living with two mini fur factories requires me to vacuum every day. As you can imagine, this can get quite tiring. My twin babies Lala & DD are very active and playful little kitties. They love chasing each other all over the house, playing and fighting at the same time. Being long haired cats, this high energy activities result in flying fur everywhere all day long. Seriously, EVERYWHERE. ALL THE TIME.
I have been contemplating a robo vacuum for quite sometime actually. But you know, I overthink things. I was worried whether the kitties would treat the brushes as toys and mangle them. Whether the robo vacuum cleaner would be too loud. I was not keen to add more bulky gadgets that would take up floor space. Of course I was reluctant to spend a lot of money too. I threw all my superfluous thoughts out the window and one night after work, decided to order the Deebot T9 robo vacuum with the additional Auto Empty Station.
Normally I’d do my homework and compare brands, models, prices. But lately I’ve been exhausted from work, so I did not have the energy to spend hours browsing and researching. I literally saw this Deebot T9 robo vacuum being listed on Shopee, added it to my shopping cart, and completed the purchase within minutes. I did not even have time to second guess my purchase as the order arrived within two days.
Deebot T9 Robo Vacuum Cleaner
The first night after receiving my Deebot T9, I set up the robo vacuum which looked daunting at first but ended up really easy. There was nothing much to do other than removing all the protective covers and installing the fragrance pod (more on that below). I downloaded the mobile app and enabled instant pairing over wifi. I managed to find a cozy spot for the entire unit at one corner of my living room, where the power sockets are located. Then the Deebot T9 robo vacuum went to work and began mapping out my apartment, which was completed in about 45 minutes or so.
While the robo vacuum was scanning the apartment, I used the time to read the care and maintenance manual. The Deebot T9 robo vacuum is not very loud even though the suction power is strong. The scanning is very smart, it is able to avoid bumping into objects and glides smoothly around them. The twins had a ball trying to get acquainted while taunting the robo vacuum at the same time. As expected, Lala & DD were fascinated by the rotating brushes and started swatting at them. Thankfully, they are sturdy enough to withstand their mischiefs.
Auto Empty Station
The Auto Empty Station which I bought as additional accessory required a teeny bit of assembly. Namely screwing the top dust chamber securely to the bottom charging station. The screws and screwdriver are conveniently included in the package. The original dust compartment in the robo vacuum cleaner also had to be swapped with a different one with flaps for the dirt to be sucked into the station.
I am really glad I got the Auto Empty Station as extra purchase. It frees me up from more cleaning chores, because I don’t have to empty the dustbag as often as I’d have to with the dust compartment in the robo vacuum. The auto emptying process is a bit loud though, which both scared and thrilled the twins.
Deebot T9 Mopping Function
The Deebot T9 robo vacuum has a mopping function. The mopping attachment and 10 pieces of disposable mopping pads are included. But I don’t plan on setting this up yet, maybe later at some point. For now I am satisfied with only the vacuuming function.
Fragrance Pod
The fragrance pod is a feature that I never thought I needed! When the Deebot T9 robo vacuum is cleaning the apartment, it dispenses fragrance at the same time. The purchase came with one pod: Wild Bluebell fragrance. This fragrance is so lovely and gentle. After robo-vacuuming, the apartment smells fresh and clean. If you live with pets like me, you will appreciate what a difference this makes.
I am already planning to get more of these fragrance pods. There are two other fragrances available: Cucumber Oak and Bergamot Lavender. Both sounds like they will smell wonderful and I am pretty excited about that.
Ecovacs Smart App
The feature which I like best is the completed map that is rendered and viewable inside the phone app. I can remotely activate the Deebot T9 robo vacuum to auto clean the entire apartment, or only certain rooms and areas. I am notified whenever it has completed cleaning, charging, and can view where the unit is vacuuming in real time at a glance.
Whenever I use the app to activate the robo vacuum remotely from another room, the unit’s built in speaker will pipe up an annoucement: “Starting to clean”. At this time, the two kitties would perk up from wherever they are and rush over to the charging dock to watch the robo vacuum gracefully begin its routine.
For some reason, the Deebot T9 robo vacuum is becoming the twins’ BFF. These days, I spot them sitting quietly next to the unit while it is charging as though they are bodyguards, lol.
