As a Top 10 Finalist in the Singapore Blog Awards 2011 Adonis Beauty Blog category, I have the privilege of trying out some signature treatments offered at Adonis Beauty. The Sparkling Peel (formerly known as Floral Peel) is one of Adonis’ signature treatments because it:
…harnesses the pure essence of flowers to revive your skin. With state-of-the-art Symphony machine, the muscles on your face are stimulated with different rhythms to produce a desired skin enhancing effect. This is followed by their trusted 100% floral essence facial peel to eliminate blemishes and other skin imperfections, revealing newer and smoother skin. This peel is suited for advanced skin problems. It goes deeper into the skin, to clear away more severe cases of acne and pigmentation.
That sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it?
So my treatment started with a foot soak while sipping on a lovely herbal tea with detoxifying ingredients. The foot soak itself had been fortified with a few drops of Adonis’ Chakra Pure Essential Oils, and the soothing fragrance put me in a relaxed state right away.
The really yummy detox herbal tea at Adonis, which I must seriously hijack next time. :x
After the initial cleansing (I had moisturizer and sunblock on), the beautician applied a Soft Peeling Gel which is an exfoliator, but without the harsh scrubby beads we’re all used to. This gel accomplished the same function of lifting away the dead upper layer skin. Because it’s not a scrub, it is gentle on all skin-types and because it is a gel, it doesn’t strip the moisture off your face while it does its exfoliating thingie.
Now that the face had been thoroughly cleansed, my face received a nice cool breeze from this cold ‘steamer’. It’s just like the steam-jet that we’re accustomed to (for those who are facial fans), but instead of warm air, this was cold air and it has oxygenating properties as well. After about five minutes or so, the beautician began sticking on some probes on my face which I thought was wwwwwwww-w-e-e-e-e-e-i-r-dddddd at first. I was visibly frowning at this point so she informed me that this is a unique Adonis step called Symphony Beat. Huh?!?!?
The beautician explained that the probes will transmit gentle electric currents to my face, with the purpose of stimulating the nerves. Kinda like a gentle workout for the skin on your face, preparing it so that the skin can readily absorb all the good stuff which will be applied afterwards. I suppose it makes sense, because our face rarely gets any stimulation or exercise. If you think about it, the only muscles that get a lot of action on a daily basis is around the mouth area when we chew our food. There are three modes of Symphony Beats that effectively achieve the following:
Lifting – to firm sagging skin
Active – for dull complexions and mature skin
Relax – combination, oily and acne-prone skin
Ahhhh okaayyy… I get it now. Yes, go on and work out my face please, thank you very much! But I must admit that I was chicken chit, so I told her to keep the electric current as low as possible. A couple of minutes later, I regretted this because I got used to the sensation, decided I could use a stronger pulsation, wanted to ask her to turn up the dial but she had left the room. :( I ended up falling asleep for the twenty minutes that she was gone.
What is the best part of a facial? Hands-down the massage. This is my favorite part, always. Pure blisssssss~ Incidentally, I was once criticized for having too good a life (like it’s a bad thing, pfffttttt). The critic compared me to a Wagyu cattle, because all I do is eat, drink, get massages, repeat. Puwahahaha. Of course there are plenty other things I do too, and if you stick around this blog often enough, you will discover what they are in time. ;)
Anyhoo, it was nearing that time of the month for me (TMI!) and my face’s kinda on the verge of breaking out these days. Sucks. So the beautician applied a thin layer of Comedone Plus around my acne-prone areas, namely the nose and around the mouth, like chin and upper lip. This product softens the oily plugs, whiteheads, blackheads so no extraction was needed.
The finale to this treatment was the peel itself, which was applied to my face using a cotton pad. The result was pretty amazing, pores were minimized, skin tone appeared immediately brighter, complexion felt smoother to the touch and the skin indeed felt tightened. And this was IMMEDIATE, I kid you not. I received a small container of moisturizer afterwards and was told to use it for the next couple of days to balance my post-peel skin. And that concluded my facial treatment, The Sparkling Peel, at Adonis.
BEFORE
AFTER: The look of a “Wagyu cattle” — sans makeup but sparkling! }:p Kekeke~
