When it comes to getting my hair shampooed and blown out (by anyone other than myself), it needs no further introduction of how I AM A BIG FAN of it!!! I fondly call this pampering moment “sai tau” (Cantonese pronounciation of 洗頭 – literally, wash head). Seriously, a shampoo-blow-style session always makes me feel like a rockstar afterwards. I rant quite often on this blog about how I detest shampooing my hair at home, coz often it involves yanking, tugging, pulling and no matter how much conditioning treatment I put on my hair during, my hair just never can attain the same softness, bounce and shine like when I stepped out of the salon.

Look at these pictures of the VS Angels. The first thing most people look at is what goes on below their necks, but has anyone really paid close attention to what goes on above the neck? Specifically, THE HAIR? Beautiful hair is an important component that completes your look. Even if that look involves pyjamas (or in this case, lingerie only), it’s still nice to know that your hair isn’t greasy, stringy or frizzy. Well cared-for hair is sexy and can really make anyone feel like a million bucks, even when there’s no one looking. I want my hair to look like any of them VS Angels’!!! Long, soft, flowy, silky tresses of sexiness. Not the fried frizzy crap that I wake up to every morning. Ugh!

Late last year, I spotted Blow+Bar through my Instagram and I have this joint bookmarked. I’ve been keen in checking them out as Blow+Bar offers not just a hair blowout, they also have manicure services plus you get to sip complimentary wine while being pampered. Now that’s an indulgence any girl can’t refuse!

Set in a bar environment, Blow+Bar is the urban lifestyle remedy for the busy with little time seeking to get their hair and nail grooming done together, while catching up with friends and unwinding over a complimentary glass of wine. In less than an hour, you would have gotten a blowout and manicure, had that pre-dinner drink you needed and caught up with a friend. That’d be me! These days I’ve been really swamped with design work in the studio and I have begun to neglect my usual grooming routine of hair and nail maintenance. I am even embarrassed to admit that lately I’ve gotten so exhausted that after washing my face in a hurry at the end of the day, I went straight to sleep without bothering to put on any serums, moisturizers, eye cream etc. on my face. I just wanted to call it a good night and pass out.

Seeing that Easter weekend was approaching, it was the perfect opportunity for me to chill and let my hair down (so to speak). So I went to check out Blow+Bar and invited a couple of gal pals – Carrie and Rachie from The Cambelles – to join me so that I could multitask in getting some pampering done while also catching up with the girls.

Situated beside the river at Robertson Quay, Blow+Bar aims to break traditional salon boundaries of being a place people go to just for their grooming needs, to become a place that people want to go. The social setting of Blow+Bar is the perfect space for a little pampering, girl’s night out or pre-date primping. The hair stations are all situated around a bar counter; I’ve been in enough bars to appreciate this cute and cozy layout.

Besides having all the regular services that a hair salon offers, Blow+Bar recognises the need that everyday should be a good hair day. AMEN!!!

The Cambelles girls and I all got the popular Blow+Bar Ultimate Blowout, which comes with a double shampoo cleanse to ensure our hair was really properly cleansed, a 10 minutes relaxing scalp massage for ultimate rejuvenation, an intensive hair treatment for healthy hair and styling via blowdry or curling irons.

Additionally, we also had express manicures to complete the look. It was one girly pampering session indeed and a great afternoon of awesome blowout, pretty manicure and wine. *WOOTZ*

Meanwhile, Rachie and I were done with our blowouts and manicures, so we took some photos outside the store to show off our hair.

Blow+Bar is the first in Singapore to specialise in 5 signature blowout looks (natural, wavy, curls, straight, volume) and the three of us rocked three out of the five signature Blow+Bar blowout looks. Rachie chose the Straight style. Carrie chose the Curly style. I chose the Wavy style. I love how the three of us picked different looks and do we look like Charlie’s Angels here or what? :D

Our fresh matchy-matchy manicures! There were loads of other colors to pick from the swatches, of course, but the three of us must’ve been on the same wavelength that day therefore we unintentionally ended up selecting the same colors. ^^

Gawd, I want to have hair that looks like this every day! The bouncy loose waves made me feel like Giselle Bundchen, eh? *puwahahaha* Blow+Bar also offers updo styles and I DEFINITELY want to try that next time! Lotsa people complimented me on my rainbow burst tier necklace from Keri et Sol that day, btw.

I had such a lovely time at Blow+Bar with The Cambelles, I can’t wait to go back there again for another blowout. The salon is really cozy and comfortable, perfect for getting together with your gal pals and get pampered together. Curious to know how much the services cost? Below are a couple of Blow+Bar Specials (with price list) for your reference – VERY reasonable, isn’t it??? Blow+Bar is a full service salon, so there are other price packages and specials as well as ala carte services available. But for me, the Ultimate Blowout and TGIF specials are a good introduction for first-timers to experience their pampering blowout service.
