I’ve never been a big fan of Indian cuisine, except for Butter Chicken which I enjoy. The only reason I can think of as to why I like it is because it’s not as spicy and sweeter than most Indian food. I’m pretty sure this is a misconception of Indian food though as I am keen in understanding spices more and hope to try my hand at learning how to make Indian food properly.
Anyhoo, this isn’t a recipe post as I made this via shortcut; it’s a meal kit that was delivered in a bag with all the ingredients pre-portioned for a meal that serves two.
I definitely am behind the meal kit idea as it saves time from figuring out individual ingredients to picking up groceries. There’s still simple cooking involved, which is a-okay since a freshly-prepared meal at home is always cool in my books. With just a handful of ingredients and 20 min (give or take), I’ve got me two steaming servings of Butter Chicken with Naan, Okra, and Cloved Basmati on my dinner table. Fast food that’s relatively effortless. I went to town with my plating coz I like my food to look pretty.
I ordered this meal kit from RedMart – who’d have thunk. It’s a new service that the site’s offering. I’ve been a RedMart customer as I buy all my cleaning supplies such as laundry detergent, kitchen spray cleaner, dishwashing liquid, etc. from the site and I like the convenience of having them delivered to my apt. So when I see this new section for meal kits on the site, I was game for ordering one and giving it a try.
Everything that’s needed for the meal has been packed inside a black bag: fresh chicken breast, pre-made sauce, raw okra, rice, and two ready-to-eat naan. Total cost: $22. My thoughts about this meal kit below.
Recipe Level: Easy.
Value: Good.
Flavor: Kinda bland.
Will I order a meal kit from RedMart again? Yes.
There’s currently a selection of 6 meal kits on the site, I plan on ordering something different to try. What do you think of this meal kit idea? Would you order one for yourself?
