Cacharel is a French brand of ready-to-wear clothing, perfume and accessories. It was created in 1962 by Jean Bousquet, in Nîmes, who founded the company of the same name in 1964. Cacharel is named after the local name of a small duck. Cacharel designs are characteristic for their youthful style, femininity, lightness, refinement and use of bright colours.
The Spring 2013 RTW collection reflects this youthful femininity with airy lightness. The selection of colors, prints and fabrics are beautiful, they remind me of a forest nymph dancing amongst fairies and mermaids. The peplums in this collection are flirty and playful. The interplay of solid and translucence is right on the trend as well; Cacharel has even implemented this on the accessories (evident in heels and clutch). We will be seeing quite a bit of cutouts and this “now you see me, now you don’t” peekaboo coyness next year.
