Ten years ago in July 2003, I threw a summer BBQ shindig at my backyard that featured 37 lbs of live crayfish / crawfish from a fresh seafood supplier out in Long Island, NY. Yep, all 37 lbs of these delicious little suckers that turned bright red swimming in a pot of boiling water and then seasoned generously with Cajun seasoning. THEY. WERE. SO. DAMN. YUMMY.
I miss this horribly. Haven’t had Cajun-style boiled crayfish in ages. :”[
At that time, the supermarket by my apartment at the time had stingray (aka skate fish) so I bought a couple big fat slabs and wrapped them in banana leaf with sambal seasoning. Then toss on the grill.
Weather was hot, everyone came by and hung out until late at night. Partaaay! It was fun, everyone got down and dirty peeling these crayfish. Summer BBQs such as these are da bomb, yo! Good times, good times. *nostalgic*
Actual journal entry below of what took place at the shindig.
