Cocotte

1 July, 2012

cocotte lunch duck confit moonberry

As you may already know, I am a big fan of French food and I’m down for it anytime! So I was really excited when a former classmate of mine suggested Cocotte. And the occasion was a belated birthday lunch in honor of yours truly. ;)

Cocotte is situated inside the swanky boutique hotel Wanderlust. Wanderlust is a left-field and totally experimental boutique hotel set to draw madcap voyagers and curious travellers to its doorstep.

Located on the ground level of the boutique hotel, Cocotte serves up unpretentious, rustic French cuisine in a casual and comfortable setting. Getting to the heart of French country cooking, shared platters of piping hot food and scrumptious dishes passed across the table between friends and family is what this joint’s all about.

I thought the 3-course lunch menu was ultra affordable! Everything looks very yummy.

I’ve been missing Paris very much and sadly, had to skip out of two trips that I got invited to. Happily, I was able to compensate for my missed opportunities by starting out with some Chicken Liver Mousse, served with Cornichons and Tomato Coulis. For my main course, I went for the Homemade Duck Confit with Sauce a l’Orange (as you have seen in the opening photo above, feel free to scroll up).

I am so predictable! I’m partial towards anything with citron, so naturally for dessert I picked the Tarte au Citron. I dunno, there’s just something about lemony tarts that I love a lot as they go really well with a nice hot cup of tea at the end of a meal. Sorry, no chocolatey thingie for me when there’s citron on the menu. Even my usual default go-to dessert, the creme brulee, got demoted to second place.

I really loved my lunch, everything was delish! Then again, I don’t say no to French food. :9~ Most people find French food too rich, and I don’t disagree. But with that said, I always end up inhaling everything off the plate down to the last bit of sauce and feel zero guilt. Simply way too delicious and an awesome way to indulge oneself.

I hope to go back to eat at Cocotte again soon. Even better, I also totally wanna have a staycation there and check into one of the 2nd floor rooms that has been designed by my buddies over at :phunk Studio. :) :) :)
