Don Quijote Spanish BBQ Night

There’s buffet, and then there’s BBQ buffet. On the first Wednesday of every month, Don Quijote, a Spanish restaurant situated at Dempsey, hosts a BBQ Night offering a palatable array of grilled items, sangrias, top-notch Spanish wines and champagne. This BBQ buffet had me pigging out on Tomahawk Bone-In Rib Steaks, Lamb Chops, Spanish Segovian-Style Suckling Pig, and market-fresh seafood such as live Boston Lobsters, Barramundi and Snapper. The Spanish Segovian-Style Suckling Pig, Paellas and Fideuas will certainly delight fans of Spanish cuisine too.

Special mention ought to be given to the delicious Spanish Iberian “Secreto” Pork, the butcher’s secret cut that’s elusive and bears a costly market-price. This meat is a tender strip of pork hidden beneath a thick layer of belly fat, while surprisingly lean, this little-known porcine prize is juicy and incredibly flavorful.

And then of course, there’s the Tomahawk Steak. So-called because of its resemblance to a tomahawk, this cut is a larger version of the bone-in rib eye steak. The bone has been left in to enhance the taste of this flavorful cut while the Frenched-style bone also makes for a dramatic presentation. As a big fan of red meat and succulent medium-rare steaks, I couldn’t help myself and had to go back for extra servings of this at Don Quijote BBQ Night.

How much does this BBQ Night cost? $128++ with free-flow of softs and juices or $188++ with free-flow of Tattinger Champagne, Codorniu Anna Cava, sangrias and Spanish wines. Seats are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. And if you happen to see a skinny, tattooed, long-haired girl constantly going back to the BBQ station and piling her plate up with Tomahawk Steak and Secreto Pork, yup… that’d be me.
