Dries Van Noten’s Spring 2014 RTW show features gold accents, heaps of ruching and ruffling juxtaposed against black and dark florals, while footwear and accessories are accented with snakeskin.
I vividly remember during my recent trip back to NY, I had dinner with my good friend and we got to the topic of traveling to Antwerp together one day as he went there last year and loved it so much he wanted to go there again. So I asked, “What’s there to do in Antwerp other than eating mussels? I love mussels, of course, but is there anything else worth checking out?”. He then exclaimed in horror, “ARE YOU SERIOUS, GURL!?! You have no idea how great Antwerp is and the fashion there is so awesome. That’s where Dries Van Noten is from, hello!”.

Dries Van Noten is a Belgian fashion designer and an eponymous fashion brand. In 2005, the New York Times described him “one of fashion’s most cerebral designers”. His style is said to be “eccentric”, and fell out of favor during the long period of minimalistic fashion in the early 1990s, only to make a come back towards the mid-2000s. The brand does not offer haute couture; all of its designs are ready to wear and available at retail. His work is said to be characterized by use of prints, colors, original fabrics and layering. He does not advertise. [from Wiki]
