Cupcakes schmupcakes. No matter where we go, we are definitely spoilt for choices when it comes to these babies. I am probably not the only one to be saying this, I am pretty much jaded when it comes to cupcakes. The fancy ones are too over-the-top fancy while the conservative ones without any bells and whistles are so ho-hum. *yawnz* I know, I know, I am a very difficult person to please.
One night after a very filling dinner, my friends Chloe and Jacob asked me to sample yet another batch of new cupcakes from Patisserie Framboise. I was ultra stuffed at that time and sorta looked at the cupcakes with a somewhat disinterested glance. I wasn’t planning to have any until they cut the cupcakes open and I saw a nice chunky line of filling coming down the middle. That piqued my interest so I said, what the heck let me try a bite.
I was pleasantly surprised that the cupcakes tasted really good and so I asked what other flavours do these cupcakes come in? These cupcakes from Patisserie Framboise come in both classic flavours such as Vanilla, Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Red Velvet and one combination that I found quite fresh and new, Green Tea with Red Bean. There’s also Peanut Butter and Chocolate, as well as Lemon Curd. Why, you know how I feel about citron desserts. ;)
I say the cupcakes from Patisserie Framboise hit that sweet spot between classic and sophisticated. What I mean is, the cupcakes are classic in form without any fussy decorations while the flavors are sophisticated. I’d think that a lot of care went into formulating the recipe as the amount of icing plus the filling have to be balanced delicately with the texture and taste of the cake itself. Not too overly sweet, every bite into a moist Patisserie Framboise cupcake is an elegant experience.
Patisserie Framboise is an online retailer of sweet treats and part of their repertoire includes macarons, cupcakes, cakes, and customised cakes. I’ve had the good fortune to sample the macarons and cupcakes. My faves for cupcakes are hands-down the Red Velvet, Green Tea and Red Bean, and Lemon Curd. Fans of Red Velvet cupcakes won’t be disappointed as there is a generous dollop of cream cheese frosting which isn’t too overly sweet or cloying. For macarons, I highly HIGHLY recommend the Rum and Raisin flavor.
I have yet to try the cakes but they are currently having a seasonal special of Christmas Carrot Cake and Chocolate Christmas Log. Additionally, they are also launching a limited-time only, brand new Peppermint Macaron for the festive season. These guys at Patisserie Framboise ain’t trying to change the dessert landscape but they sure are a creative, down-to-earth bunch and produce baked goods with elegance.
Ordering from Patisserie Framboise is easy, head on over to their Facebook page to drool at the beautiful photos and drop them an email with your order. The macarons, cupcakes and cakes make a really presentable corporate and personal celebratory gift, imo.
