Personally I don’t shop all that much in Singapore while the opposite is true whenever I’m back States-side; I go on mad sprees as though I’ve just gotten out from prison. However, I do know that when you hit the stores during GSS period there are bargains everywhere. Especially if you’re looking to spend on big ticket items, this is an excellent time as the deep discounts can save you a lot of money.
I am a huge online shopper because I like to compare prices and do homework by reading recommendations + reviews online prior to purchasing. I keep a wishlist online that curates all the items which I covet while surfing American online stores. I save that list until I’m back to NY, when I can whack them all at one go. I’m disappointed at the dismal choices of e-tailers available in Singapore as well as lack of accurate/helpful info online; I hope that will change someday. And since I am a homebody, I tend to shy away from going to the shopping malls here recreationally.
