Sometime last month I was invited to guest model for Lace and Buttons, a blogshop in Singapore. Lace And Buttons is conceived and created by Prudence Yeo, a certified style coach with a strong passion for fashion and has developed a keen sense of style to help others look good. She understands first hand the importance of first impressions and believes that dressing to impress is critical to the success of many working and personal relationships. Prudence is a strong advocator of women issues and was a public speaker for Breast Cancer Awareness, which was how she came about to invite me to model the Pink Collection in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. (As you may recall, I was Ambassador for Estee Lauder Global Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in 2011 and blogged about it here.)
Being part of a photo shoot, in front or behind the camera, was of course not new to me, but modeling for a blogshop was a first for me. It was a fun experience, but as with any collaborative creative team effort, there’s always a significant amount of work involved. Even though it was a relatively hot day and strutting around in tall heels ain’t exactly my thing, I am honored to be part of this. (Phew, thank goodness I didn’t PK aka pok gai aka trip and fall on my face.) Anyway my job was probably the easiest one as I just had to change into different outfits, face front, side, back, repeat while the camera clicked away. I am also happy to contribute my time and help speak up for women issues, because I think it is personally meaningful for me to stand up for causes that I believe in. And if I can get to look chic and dolled up while doing so, why not right? :P I kid, I kid.
Below are some of the shots from the photo shoot. As you can see, Prudence has picked out a collection of pink outfits to match the theme of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I generally don’t wear a lot of soft pink and this creamy peach color would have been something I personally avoided because the shade is too close to Asian skin tone. However, upon reviewing the photos, I am pleasantly surprised at how flattering the color is on my skin tone. The styles also make me look girlish and more 温柔 (gentler, softer). I think some of the clothes I modeled in look really cute and there are a couple items which I’m already eyeing for myself.
Pink Mini Leaves Flare Dress
Pink Romper
Pink Basic Chiffon Top and Pink Floral Shorts.
Pink Motif Bandage Dress.
This pink motif bandage dress is super figure hugging and so tight I felt like a pink burrito! :x The good news is, it is stretchy and ultra comfortable to wear. Just uhm… don’t plan on eating a heavy meal while wearing this dress otherwise the pattern will expand and warp, kekeke.
Heh, I thought I’d throw in this image to show you what the board I was leaning on originally looked like. It was a promotion billboard of beer prices, I edited it to a chalkboard-style typographic shoutout for Team Moonberry. }:P
When you order 3 or more items from the Lace and Buttons blogshop, you will get a free limited edition canvas tote bag. More importantly, part of the proceeds of all items bought on Lace and Buttons in the months of September and October 2012 will go to Singapore Cancer Society. Hurry and shop now! Go Team Moonberry! *woot woot*
Many thanks to Prudence and Bernard for inviting me to guest model for Lace and Buttons. I am very honored and this was a wonderful experience for me.
