That small fortune you’re dropping on skin cream? Time to pay more attention to your hands too. Hands not only are susceptible to the first signs of aging, they often age even faster than the face and there’s no better time than now to take care of them. The skin on the back of the hand is much thinner than that on your face, and it often gives away your age before your face does. There is very little fat on the backs of the hands, so when even a small amount of collagen or elastin fibers begins to break down (which is part of the normal aging process and partly from sun exposure) it’s going to have a noticeable impact on your hands – wrinkly, crinkly crepe-like skin texture and the noticeable appearance of bulging veins, which also grow larger over time. Bleh!
While fat transfer and fillers are possible solutions, let’s start with including hand care products into your daily skincare ritual first. And remember to put sunscreen on hands when you’re out and about. I cook and clean a lot, but I don’t give my hands proper TLC – oops. Here’s a handful (hur hur) of products on my wish list for attaining younger looking, pretty hands.
Bio Sculpture Hand Cream (US$40.00) is a sophisticated, moisturizing cream with Allantoin that will nourish and regenerate skin cells. The UV sun-filter Benzophenone protects the skin from premature ageing, and will leave hands soft and silky.
SpaRitual Handprint Hand Serum (US$35.00) is formulated with Swiss Apple Stem Cells and infused with Ginger Root Extract to soften and smooth skin’s texture, Pumpkin Fruit Extract to help build collagen and promote elasticity, and Licorice Root to help brighten discoloration. *available at PhysioAesthetics Singapore; call for price.
Stop the clock on aging with Orly Argan Oil Hand Creme (US$14.60), a concentrated ultra-luxe hydrating cream that forms an invisible protective layer to nourish and hydrate dry skin and brittle nails. Argan oil, jojoba oil, and shea butter leave skin supple and prevent moisture loss, while vitamin E protects against free radicals for youthful skin.
The rich formulation of Cuccio Naturale Deep Dermal Transforming Wrap (US$14.61) brings moisture to a deep level of the dermis. Infused with comfrey root extract, it promotes skin cell regeneration and helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can be used once a week on the hands for best results. For a more intense treatment, wrap hands in a warm, moist towel after application and let the product sit for 5-10 minutes.
Alessandro HAND!SPA Age Complex Cream Royal (US$39.00) is an ultra nourishing andintensive hand mask, fortified with vital nutrients and designed for especially dry, rough hands. The highly concentrated royal jelly and shea/mango butter enrich and noticeably improve skin surface to restore smoothness and freshness so you can reach out with soft, supple hands and confidence fit for a queen.
LCN Deep Blue Treatment Set (US$101.90) includes both Serum and Cream and has anti-inflammatory and skin-tightening properties. Combining brown algae, seaweed extract, and red algae extract, it provides the perfect synergy in this unique anti-aging care series. The algae extracts activate the skin’s own regeneration mechanism and counteract visible skin aging. In addition, a special moisturizing complex enhances this rich texture with its intensive care formula.
Entity Nanovive Glycolic Exfoliating Serum (US$12.95). This gentle, non-abrasive exfoliant utilizes all-natural glycolic acidderived from sugar caneto dissolve dry surface skin cells and stimulate cell renewal. Specially formulated with a Ph level of 3.5 and 7% glycolic acid for maximum efficiency. Immediately, you’ll notice the reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and the clean smooth finish. It leaves skin illuminated and prepped for the penetrating action of the Nanovive lotions and creams.
Last but not least, plugging this video again pertaining to hand care (swiped from this post which I wrote a while back).
