In the lead up to the much anticipated yearly fashion event in Singapore – Audi Fashion Festival 2014, of which Haagen-Dazs is an esteemed sponsor, the beloved ice-cream maker is launching exciting creations that will be unveiled when Audi Fashion Festival takes place from May 14-18. Created by Haagen-Dazs global chef, Jean Francois Arnaud who is also the face behind the brand’s exquisite in-store dessert plating, I got a sneak peek at the new creations especially designed for this annual sartorial display.
Using classic Haagen Dazs flavours – Belgian Chocolate, Strawberry, Green Tea, Macadamia Nut and Vanilla, with the addition of a brand new flavor that’s launching soon: Mango Raspberry, here are the beautiful and palatable indulgence created by Chef Arnaud. Can you see the fashion inspiration?
These haute couture confections were plated so beautifully, they looked more like patissier art and way too pretty to eat. I also got to try my hand at plating my own ice-cream which was the best I could muster spontaneously in uhm, ten minutes. It was great fun and I definitely learned a thing or two from observing Chef Arnaud.
Not too shabby righttttttttt??? Even though I’m not much of an ice-cream person, Chef Arnaud’s creations made me look at ice cream in a different way and definitely have inspired me in terms of adding other ingredients and its presentation.
Speaking of ice-cream, in recent memory I had a convo with someone who asked me what my fave ice-cream flavor is, to which I replied yuzu (although technically that’d be a sorbet and not ice-cream). And then he was giving me flak about it because my answer was too fancy-schmancy!!! *wtf / rolling eyes* Figures, for someone whose fave flavor is vanilla — yawnzzz. How dare he question my refined taste! (j/k, j/k) These days though, I’m skewing towards coconut ice-cream served with slivers of fresh coconut meat and a sprinkling of peanuts. But that’s probably just silly nostalgia on my part. #incorrigiblesentimentalist :”)
ANYHOO~ Keep your eyes peeled for the launch of the Haagen-Dazs’ latest and newest flavor Mango Raspberry by following Haagen-Dazs on Facebook. I’ve sampled it and it’s a fresh tropical flavor enhanced with crisp fruity notes of raspberries. The combination of those two fruits is giving me fancy ideas on what to do with ice-cream next time… hmm.
