You know, bbqs used to be a very serious business for me. In fact, I have a mini reputation for throwing the best bbq ever (well, according to my friend Don who never forgets to remind me of this whenever we meet, even though said bbq was thrown backa decade ago). I used to stress out the week before hosting a bbq as I needed to come up with a fancy menu to feed a crowd of 30-40 people at my backyard. No two Moonberry-hosted bbqs were ever a repeat or exactly the same; there was the kalbi bbq, the crayfish bbq (all 37 lbs of them shipped from Louisiana), the turkey-and-brie handmade burger bbq, the Hawaiian luau bbq… you get the idea.
Now that I’m in Singapore though, I realized that bbqs here are much less of a gourmet affair but more of a casual affair, which is fine by me. What I am very delighted to find out is, there is no reason to stress out anymore when it comes to pre-party planning and meat-marinating-up-to-your-elbows. Best of all, people even have the option not to man the grill themselves!
Introducing HungryBBQ, a one-stop catering company for anything bbq-related. There’s a variety of party packs (with enough food to feed 10-35 people), or you can order pre-marinated food ala carte and if you want to get all fancy, you can request a bbq butler to do all the grilling at your party while you entertain your guests!!! Awesomeness. No grill? No problem, because HungryBBQ will supply this too and everything, including the food, arrives neatly in a box on the day of your bbq party. Very, very professional, I say.
How about the flavors, you ask? I had the good fortune to try out some of their menu items a while back and they tasted great. I was impressed that all the food were prepared using exclusive blends of spices from recipes that have been tried, tested and continually improved to suit everyone’s preferred palates.
Let’s dive together into these boxes of HungryBBQ yumminess, shall we?
Here’s the bbq butler / grill operator / whatever you want to call him. He makes sure all the food is cooked to perfection. No more burnt food or undercooked meat! :)
Just look at the size of these jumbo prawns. :0
My fave item from the menu turned out to be the Sambal Sotong (translated into English: Calamari in spicy sauce).
Some of the other yummy grilled food from the HungryBBQ menu. Wait, do I need to clarify that you order these raw and marinated, they are delivered in that state, and then you grill the food yourself? Hiring a bbq butler is completely optional, btw, for those who prefer to DIY.

Now… back to my legendary bbq story. Even though I am extremely flattered that my friend Don insists it’s the bestest bbq ever, I personally think that particular bbq is memorable on everyone’s minds and definitely qualifies as seriously one of the awesomest parties I’ve ever hosted. And it’s not because of the food, but because of the crazy amount of fun that everyone had that night. Don’t believe me? I dug this out of my dusty journal (I’m so happy I blogged about it) to share with you just how insane it all got. Yeah, that’s how we used to roll in my hood back in the days. ;P
