Buffets are typically very affordable and value for money since you pay one price for an all-you-can-eat assault on the spread. At $58.00 per adult, the à la carte buffet dinner at Jade Fullerton is definitely of good value considering the luxurious spread that’s presented in the menu. In an elegant fine-dining setting, the Jade Fullerton à la carte dinner buffet offers more than 38 delicious items on the menu, so there’s something for everyone: seafood, roast meats, vegetables, noodles, soups, etc.
The idea of à la carte buffet is a proper seated dinner. Meaning, there’s no need to get out of your seat for refills as the waitstaff will bring the food to you. Every order is cooked as per order so everything comes to your table piping hot from the kitchen. Read on to see the dishes which I sampled at the buffet.
Start your meal with appetizers that range from dumplings, spring rolls, crispy pork belly to wontons and beef brisket. I particularly recommend the Deep-fried Prawns Coated with Passion Fruit Mayonnaise (great sauce) and the Crispy Bean Curd with Fragrant Spiced Salt (so light, fluffy inside with a beautiful crispy exterior). I also think the Golden “Man Tou” Stuffed with Chili Crab Meat is not to be missed, even though it’s chargeable at an additional $2.80 per piece, and this is a must try. The deep-fried man tou buns are crunchy and fragrant, while the chili crab meat nested within has a spicy kick.

There are four kinds of soups on the menu, including Braised Fish Maw and Seafood in Superior Broth, but I recommend the Braised Bird’s Nest with Truffle Egg White in Superior Broth – it’s delicate and exquisite. Both soups are premium additions at $9.00 per bowl. The soup serving portion is so generous, I actually got full halfway through sipping the soup; suffice to say, the additional cost is worth its weight in gold (so to speak).

For main entrées, you’ll be spoiled for choices – some of which are shown below, such as Fish Fillet in Vinaigrette, Steamed Chilean Sea Bass with Preserved Olive, Sautéed Shredded Pork with Trio of Capsicum and Dried Bean Curd – just to name a few. For an additional $18.00, splurge on the Simmered Egg Noodles with Boston Lobster in Spring Onion and Ginger Sauce which comes with a generous serving of lobster.

Dessert-wise, the Chilled Yuan Yang Cake made of read bean and mung bean makes a good palate cleanser and they aren’t too dense or overly sweet. I imagine having family dinner at Jade Fullerton to celebrate a parent’s or grandparent’s birthday and the elderly folks will approve of this one. Special mention needs to be given to the Almond Cream with Yam Paste, served warm. This left a positive impression on me as I happen to like yam paste (ie. orh-nee) and it’s comforting to be sipping the almond cream together with the yam paste after a heavy buffet meal (I use the term ‘heavy’ loosely here as admittedly I eat like a bird so buffets are generally a lost cause on me).

Word is Jade Fullerton had this à la carte buffet for a month late last year and the concept was so popular and well-received that they decided to bring it back and make it ongoing every evening. I look forward to bringing my parents and relatives to eat here for a family dinner sometime. There are plenty to choose from and big eaters who are discerning on quality of food will gain satisfaction from the à la carte buffet at Jade Fullerton both on value and flavor.
