We have cats in the house, yo! As a homebody, I love the gentle pitter-patters of a kittycat. Living with my two adopted twins, DD & Lala, has brought so much joy daily. Double the blessings, twice the love and silliness! :D :D :D
Personality
Lala, girl, is a skittish cat around strangers. She prefers to observe from a safe distance first before warming up to strangers. She is a sweet girl who is pretty vocal, she responds with a chirp when I call her name sometimes). When relaxed and feeling pampered, she is a purring machine. However, Lala is not a fan of being held or hugged, but she is okay with being brushed and having her nails cut. Her fur is lighter-coloured but quite sparse compared to her brother DD. She also weighs less than DD and consistently skinnier, even though they are the same age and eat the same amount of food daily. Lala is a talented jumper and can jump as high as over a meter.
DD, boy, is very loving and curious cat. He is not shy around strangers and can get quite adventurous. He is really playful and enjoys playing catch. DD weighs more than Lala and when I’m not watching, he sometimes would help himself to Lala’s food even though she’s in the middle of eating it. He has a stocky built with thick fur so he is prone to hairballs since he is diligent about grooming himself. He loves drinking water and is an adorable biscuit-maker.
Lala and DD are littermates, they were born together and I adopted them at 8-9 months old from a fosterer when their previous owner was no longer able to look after the cats.
Diet
I have read about all the benefits in cats on a raw food diet. I made a decision very early on that I’d feed the twins a raw diet. Upon adopting Lala and DD, I started ordering frozen raw cat food online. So far, the twins have tried two brands and they approve of both.
Frozen Raw Cat Food (Ground Beef and Chicken)
The Grateful Pet Frozen Raw Cat Food (Beef and Chicken)
When I sent the twins to a cat grooming staycation session which included an overnight stay, I had to pack food for them. I soon realized that a fully raw cat diet posed an inconvenience so I decided to introduce canned food to Lala and DD. After trying a few different cat food brands, the ones they both like best are:
Since Lala and DD were still growing kittens when I adopted them, I also supplemented their diet with a sprinkling of grain-free dried kibbles over the raw ground meat or wet food. This have become part of the cats’ daily staple and the two brands which they enjoy are:
Loveabowl Cat Food (Herring, Salmon, Atlantic Lobster)
Supplements
When my previous cat, Melody, passed away due to kidney failure, I grieved for a long time. It is so sad that the lifespan of cats is so short (Melody passed away at 11 years old). I want the twins to have healthy and fulfilling lives, so I spoil them with treats and supplements so that they can be healthy for as long as possible.
Virbac Nutri-plus Gel Supplement
CHARM Postbiotics and Prebiotics
Cat Toys
I indulged the twins with food puzzles and have DIY made several on my own, as well as bought some nifty ones to keep them engaged.
Yellow Windmill Treat Dispenser
Oddly, neither DD nor Lala reacts to catnip. However, they enjoy nibbling and rolling around with the Silvervine Chew Sticks that I offered them. From time to time, they are also intrigued by cat dancers… when the mood strikes.
Before the twins first arrived to my home, I told myself, “I’m not going to be one of those cat people that have way too many cat stuff cluttering the house”. Um, famous last words…. hahaha. I couldn’t help myself, I have been pampering the twins with lots of cat stuff.
I have to say though, when I had Melody over ten years ago, the cute kitty goods I bought for her was nothing to compared to how fancy, high-tech, and functional as they are these days!
