Throwback to last summer when I had lunch at Buvette Gastrotheque, a cute little bar-restaurant-cafe at West Village, NYC. The whole setup – interior decor, food, menu design – was such a pleasurable experience.
It all started with the adorably-designed Buvette menu, which came in a form of a little booklet. The way the menu items are laid out was visually a delight to me, using vintage illustrations and a faux letterpress treatment on textured paper.
When the food arrived (small plates, meant to be shared), the presentation was rustic and unfussy. Gotta say this made me miss Paris (where Buvette exists too).
Steak Tartare
Bloody Mary, Roasted Beet, Kunik Cheese, White Wine… can we get anymore French than this!?
Why yes, we can. Rillettes with Fig Jam.
Such a cute little spot for breakfast or date nights. Plenty of great French wines to choose from definitely doesn’t hurt either. Not a lot of seating available though, expect to wait during peak mealtimes.
If it appears as if I haven’t updated my blog written anything in a good while, indeed I haven’t. I don’t fancy writing so much these days and I’ve been staying away from Instagram too, because I’ve been spending my time holing up and recharging. Been reading a lot more than I’m writing these days. The funniest book I read in recent memory was How To Be Single, the novel that inspired the movie. I saw the movie, it was okay but THE BOOK!!! ZOMG, it’s hilarious, a completely different synopsis from the movie, and the humor was 100% on point. I kid you not, get a copy and start reading it.
