For years I have always joked that I aspire to be Asian Martha Stewart because I enjoy hands-on domestic divaness and strive to live well. Decorating, cooking, baking, designing, crafting, organizing (BUT OF COURSE!) … I like ’em all. So recently when Samsung Singapore invited me to contribute content ideas and appear in a couple of lifestyle videos, I was ultra excited and jumped at this opportunity. I finally would get to live my Asian Martha Stewart fantasy and on video too! Yessssssss. *fist pump* :) My role on the Samsung La’Fleur Indulgence videos was as a content expert and I shared simple tips on how to bring on more indulgence into your lifestyle. Nothing too over-the-top or excessive, just simple methods to brighten your living space as well as promoting inner-wellness and relaxation.

To give you a bit of context of these videos, The Samsung La’Fleur Collection introduces an elegant, feminine flair to the feature-rich, intuitively designed devices you’ve come to expect from Samsung. The collection comprises of GALAXY S III mini, GALAXY S III LTE and GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0). Uhm, I’m personally not well-versed with Samsung products (although my flatscreen tv is by Samsung but that’s all). After collaborating on the videos with the Samsung Singapore team, I gotta say I’m intrigued by the brand and their products so I hope to explore them at some point.
Indulgence to me doesn’t always translate to spending a lot of money to acquire material possessions, going on expensive holidays or stuffing our faces with gourmet food day after day. I think that’d be excessive. For a creative individual such as myself, I tend to like indulgences that appeal to all of our senses AND more importantly, our inner well-being. I participated in two videos for Samsung La’Fleur Indulgence and lemme share with you here some behind-the-scene photos for Chapter 1: Simple Ways to Make Your Home More Indulgent. I will cover Chapter 2 in a separate post.
Day of filming started with an early call time and began with makeup + hair. Shout-out to Nic, whom I worked with previously for a different project. :) So happy I got to work with her again.
There’s that clapper thingie again. :]
I thought it’s interesting to share that even though in the video, it appears as though it’s just me in an empty apartment… in actuality, the apartment was filled with production crew and agency executives.
As you can imagine, I had to speak into the camera and pretend there weren’t like, TEN pairs of eyeballs (only five pairs shown here) staring at me while I deliver my lines. -_____-” It’s challenging not to feel nervous or self-conscious.
One of the tips I shared in the video was using wall decals to make a plain wall look more interesting. I had always wanted to do this as there are SO MANY pretty designs out there, and this was the first time I actually applied a wall decal ever.
Fortunately I had some assistance with this. I was amused by how enthusiastic the guys were in lending a hand and they were quite pro at this. I should’ve said on video that having handymen around the house is also a form of indulgence, hahaha! :x Pop quiz: How many guys does it take to apply a simple wall decal? Kekeke~
Okay, back to me. The guys actually were helping me to determine the proper height to stick the wall decal on so that on camera it shows up correctly in the frame. For a first-timer, I’d say that it definitely helps to have an extra pair of hands when it comes to applying wall decal coz the plastic film could get a bit tricky to remove.
This had to be filmed in just one take, so I’m SO glad I didn’t mess up. PHEW!
In the video I also shared a tip of how to make a simple floral arrangement.
I am going to shamelessly boast that I am an expert in this and I have two floral design certifications backing me up. I attended floral design classes at the New York Botanic Gardens as a full-time student after I got laid off from my agency job in 2002. Following that I had my own floral design business named Blooms Boutique and did wedding flowers weekend after weekend from 2004 to 2008. It was a really happy time in my life as I got to work with flowers almost every day and I also gained a lot of recognition in the New York Tri-state area for this. All in all, sans bridezillas, my Blooms Boutique days made for happy memories. :”)
THIS was my Asian Martha Stewart moment, everyone. I’m sure you can see on the video that I was most natural in this segment as I felt I was truly in my element. Me + Flowers + Video Camera = YES! Maybe I will get a chance do more of these next time when the right opportunity presents itself. If any of you wants tips and ideas on floral arrangements, feel free to shoot me an email or leave a comment. I’ll be most happy to make suggestions, provide ideas and share tips. :)
Here’s me with Billy, one of the cameramen. (Ron Lee – Lookie brother, I’ve found your long lost twin ah!!! :P)
Funny moment during shooting. You see, I wasn’t properly introduced to everyone in the beginning so this is what happened…
Director: (pointing at Billy and his camera) MB, look at B.
Me: Oh right, he is Camera B. Hello, Camera B! *points and waves*
Billy: Huh? No, my name is Billy. I’m not Camera B.
Me: Huh? I thought Director said look at B.
Director: B-illy!
Me: Oops, sorry. Didn’t hear you clearly. *SPAZ* -__-”
With Chris; we are both agency OGs okay. (OG = Original Gangstah). Mess with the best, burn like the rest. Yo, yo, yo! J/k, j/k~
MY NUMBER ONE FAN AND CHEERLEADING SQUAD TEAM LEADER! :) :) :) :) :) Hehehe.
Thank you to the video production crew, I had a great time working with y’all! This was a fun shoot and I hope we can work together again next time. Soundman, Uncle Harold, candidly loaded my website -moonberry.com- on his smart phone for the photo. ^^
THANK YOU for everyone’s hard work on day of filming. We all worked extremely hard to prepare and produce the video, so please view the video and give it your THUMBS UP! ^^
By the way, you see the bottom info bar on the video? It invites you to visit the Samsung Singapore La’Fleur Indulgence (http://www.lafleurindulgence.sg) microsite to interact with my videos and play an easy game of “Spot the La’Fleur Icon”. I urge you all to go check it out, it’s really fun. Kinda like a treasure hunt where you seek out the La’Fleur icons that are hidden here and there in my videos.
HOW TO PLAY:
1. Go to the Samsung Singapore La’Fleur Indulgence http://www.lafleurindulgence.sg microsite.
2. Login with your Facebook account.
3. Watch the videos (my videos are Chapter 1 and Chapter 2).
4. Whenever you see a La’Fleur icon in the video, click it.
5. Collect all 5 icons and you stand a chance to win $200 Garibaldi restaurant voucher.
PLEASE HURRY AND PLAY BEFORE MARCH 14th. :D
The prize is serious indulgence, yo!!! I have eaten at Garibaldi before and they serve this really yummy Pork Tenderloin Scaloppini in Marsala Sauce that was a memorable dish for me. They also have really kickass Tiramisu. I took the two pictures below when I ate at Garibaldi last year. Damnitz, I’m salivating already.
Too bad I can’t participate in the game coz I already know where the icons are hidden in the video. Play the game and see how many you can spot.
Good luck and check back again soon for my post on Chapter 2.
