I went into Sephora the other day and sorta went nuts, burning a pretty big hole in my pockets in one shot. You see, I wasn’t exactly planning to buy much when I first stepped inside the store but it was raining outside, I had quite a bit of time to kill, so I started trying this on, putting that on, spraying on this one and sniffing that one. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of the cashier with two big baskets full of stuff and signed away an incredible damage to my credit card on the dotted line. :X And I am hardly a makeup or beauty junkie!!! Yikes. Several gal pals are curious towards what I had bought (while the boys didn’t bother to discreetly hide their gaping mouths upon hearing of my total spending), so here is visually sharing what I snagged that day.
FOR BODY
Fresh SugarBath Lychee Bath Cubes
☞ This smells soooooo good I can’t wait to pop some into my bath water and indulge in the lychee goodness. I wonder if these so-called sugar cubes actually dissolve into sugar; I mean, maybe I should taste my bath water to find out whether it’s sweet? O_o I just want the lychee smell, but I don’t want soak in syrup!
Philosophy Crème Brulée Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath
Philosophy Classic Fudge Cake Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath
☞ As you’d expect from the names, these bath gels smell amazing. I wanna try out the recipes printed on the bottles!
Tocca Bianca Eau de Parfum
☞ My gf VV introduced me to this fragrance while we were window-shopping together on Fifth Avenue last Fall and I was won over by the fresh, crisp, clean scent.
Limited Edition Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Eau de Toilette Spray and Radiant Body Lotion Set
☞ I had been eyeing the original Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume for a long time but never got it because whenever I tried on the tester on my skin, it developed into this intense heady fragrance which gave me a headache after a while. This limited edition version, however, is being touted as the “Summer” edition and it has a fruitier, less intense undertone so it’s perfect. Sweet and not overpowering.
Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Mini Deodorant/Anti-Perspirant To Go
Stella Eau de Parfum Roll-On by Stella McCartney
☞ The deodorant smells feminine and sweet, while Stella smells happy-and-feel-good-all-around for me. The to-go sizes are perfect for traveling.
FOR FACE
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15
Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free SPF 15
☞ I have been using Korean-brand BB Creams for the last three years and don’t use foundation anymore. But given the humidity in SG (read: shiny clammy skin at the end of the day), I think my skin will benefit from this silky primer and tinted moisturizer as an alternative to BB Cream.
Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection
☞ I’m so embarrassed to admit that I’ve been using the same eye-shadow palette for uhm, over eight years now? Eeeps, I know, I know… it has long expired and I really shouldn’t be putting that stuff on my face anymore coz it’s grossness to da max! :X When I tried on the tester for this at the store, I like the velvety feel of the eye shadow and the pigments are pretty dense. The tutorial cards are helpful too, because I have seriously never been good at all about putting on makeup (lazy, can’t be bothered, dunno how, no skillz).
Limited Edition Color Flip 3-Tier Compact from the Sephora Collection
☞ I couldn’t resist getting this one because it’s a 3-in-1 compact — eye shadow, lip color, blush/bronzer. The selection of colors are pretty decent too. Valued at $75 but priced at just $15, this is definitely a steal!
Assortment of makeup brushes from the Sephora Collection I.T.
☞ These brushes are soo soft and fluffy, while the bright colors are cheery and fun. I am hoping that having the right tools will enhance my experience of putting on make-up and make it enjoyable for me.
Sephora Collection 12HR Wear Waterproof Jumbo Liners
Sephora Collection Long Lasting Eyeliners
☞ I tried these at the Sephora store in SG last year and really like how the eye ‘crayons’ glide smoothly on the skin. I REFUSE to get raped by the marked-up prices in SG though, so I get these eye ‘crayons’ and eyeliners in NY instead. *happy*
Tweezerman Exclusive Crystal Pink Point Slant Tweezers
Tweezerman Petite Tweezer Set
Sephora Collection False Eyelash Applicator
☞ False lashes applicator is useful to have. Practically speaking, I don’t need three different pairs of tweezer but it’s time for me to chuck the only (and very old) tweezer I own as I used it for everything over the years — plucking eyebrows, applying false lashes, picking up crystals, doing art and craft, removing splinters, so yeah… I should only be using face stuff only for face. Tweezerman tweezers are so expensive though!!! :( Ugh. But it is a very reputable brand and their products are indeed of high quality.
Assortment of Buxom Pout-perfecting Lip Polishes
☞ I *highly highly* recommend this line of lip glosses. I already have half a dozen sitting at home but I’m still acquiring more. :X I love the tingly minty feeling that this product leaves on my lips because it contains mentholatum oil, and this lip gloss is not sticky.
FOR HAIR
Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray To Go
Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray To Go
Bumble and bumble Thickening Serum
Bumble and bumble Brown Hair Powder
Full Root Lifting Spray by Living Proof
☞ This array of products is what I hope will be a solution to (1) my limp flat hair in its natural state, (2) the inconvenience of shampooing my hair with extensions because it gets heavy when wet. Gimme volume, but with ease of maintenance, thank you. :p
THE DAMAGE
☞ ☞ ☞ OUCHHHH!!!
This insanely gargantuan purchase earned me V.I.B. (Very Important Beauty Insider) status at Sephora but still… who drops almost a grand just on beauty stuff in just one day in just one store!???? Thanks to America’s fantabulous 30-day return/exchange policy {{{WOOT}}}, I went back to return a few items a couple days later and got some money back. Namely some of the make-up brushes, which were costly and I figured I didn’t really need so many of them. *Phew*
Conclusion: Beauty comes with a price (and it definitely ain’t cheap). :X Sigh.
