I signed up for an SK-II Stempower 10-Day Challenge to test drive personally whether SK-II Stempower indeed does what it says it does – which is improving skin condition, reversing the effects of aging by as much as ten years. For ten days straight, I used only SK-II products including the SK-II Stempower continuously. Believe you me, I want to know whether this product is effective or not as much as you do!
Firstly, a skin analysis was done via a very savvy SK-II device called The Magic Ring (device shown above). You can get this Magic Ring skin analysis done at any SK-II counter at no charge. Try it out if you want to find out the current condition of your skin. My 10-Day Challenge is going to show the results of before and after condition of my skin upon using SK-II Stempower. This result is backed by technology, so what you will see is literally what you get and there are numbers, diagrams, and charts to quantify the results. (In other words: No BS or fake results here.)
The Magic Ring is basically a camera that takes a close up image of one side of your face. The device has some high-tech algorithm pre-programmed into it and it is smart enough to capture an accurate snapshot of your skin even if you have makeup on. The day I went to get my Magic Ring analysis, I had a light coverage of BB Cream and sunscreen.
The Magic Ring analysis measures the following five areas of skin concerns: Texture Refinement, Firmness Power, Wrinkle Resilience, Spot Control and Radiance Enhancement.
If you remember, I attended the product launch back in June and got introduced to the product. During the launch event, I also had a skin analysis done with the SK-II Magic Ring. For the sake of full disclosure, I ought to mention also that I had full-on makeup that evening. But I was reassured that the Magic Ring device, like I’ve said, is smart enough to detect this.
Now this is where I gotta come clean: The results of my Magic Ring analysis taken that evening were EMBARRASSINGLY HORRIBLE! When I saw the diagrams on the computer screen, my eyes were as big as plates because I was super duper appalled. In my mind, I went WTF!? That’s *my* face!?!? Shiiiiiiiettttttt. I couldn’t believe how poor I fared on the analysis! Gawddddddddd.
See for yourselves below, the results of my Magic Ring analysis that evening:
If you need me to translate the diagram and chart, basically the bigger the pentagon the better your results. I scored best in the Spot Control department only, while the rest were shiiiettttt! The second picture showed the angle of laxity of my face. The bigger the angle, the less firm the skin = sagging. Ouch! Back in June, I’d say that angle is kinda like the hour-hand of a clock, sitting at 4:50pm.
Then, when I went for another Magic Ring analysis at the beginning of the SK-II Stempower 10-Day Challenge, my results were thankfully much muuuuch better and they have improved by leaps and bounds. HOLY HALLELUJAH. I must’ve done something right between June and November, but I won’t tell you what exactly; you’ll have to read through my blog and comb through all my beauty posts to find out exactly what I did. :x
The point is, an improvement is an improvement so there’s much to celebrate. Check out the comparisons below!
I scored SO much better in all five areas and even the Firmness Power of my skin is much more desirable compared to back in June. Again, using the analogy of an hour-hand, this time it is sitting at a little past 4pm. I wanted to know if SK-II Stempower can improve these results even more though. Please note that this result was before I started my SK-II Stempower 10-Day Challenge.
Without further ado, let’s get onto the challenge itself.
After cleansing my face, I use the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. This is a must-have for beautiful glowing skin. This lotion helps adjust the skin’s natural renewal cycle and it is very soothing to use. It also improves the dimensions of the skin and suitable for all skin types.
How to use: Pour a generous amount onto cotton pads and tap all over face. I used to wipe my face with it, but that is an incorrect method. The proper way to use this is by tapping all over the face, essentially moisturizing and hydrating your skin. Allow to absorb.
One of the tricks I’ve learned is by using the moist cotton pads as a quick facial compress, after you’ve applied the Facial Treatment Essence all over your face. Don’t let it go to waste as the cotton pads are still holding a lot of that soothing lotion. So what I do is place them under the eyes and also around my nose for about five to ten minutes. This helps to reduce the pore size as well as give my undereyes some TLC. Think of this as a mini mask. If you desire, you can also put the cotton pad over your nose to clarify the blackheads or whiteheads around your nose.
Next comes the SK-II Stempower cream itself. This cream is supposed to erase multiple signs of aging and restores skin firmness. I apply it all over my face but wait, there’s also a massaging technique that comes with this step to further promote skin firmness.
Using your index fingers, trace the shape of your face starting from the nasolabial area and massage outwards and upwards towards your temples. Then trace your fingers along the sides of your face and down to your neck for lymphatic drainage. This massage doesn’t require a lot of pressure, just a gentle sweeping motion outwards and upwards will do. About five to eight strokes is adequate and you will see the SK-II Stempower cream very nicely absorbed by the skin.
Now, are we ready to see the results of my Magic Ring analysis again after this 10-day Challenge? To be revealed in Part 2. :)
