I’ve been wanting to check out SPRUCE for a while now, especially upon reading my homegurl PF’s journal entries of her multiple patronages there. I was delighted (but not surprised) when she suggested we go there for our girly lunch date yesterday. Finally I got a chance to try it and I must say, I was not let down.
Al fresco seating area features classic Eames chairs with wooden eiffel legs. Love! Love! Love!
A blackboard listing menu specials welcomes you upon entry.
Lunch menu. Mmmmm, which to order? What to get?
PF was quick and decisive, she went straight for the Tagliatelle with Kurobuta Bolognese, Chili and Fresh Basil.
After pondering for a few, I decided to have Braised Duck Pappardelle with Rosemary.
The duck pappardelle turned out to be extremely delicious and tasty. Portion was just right too. It was most enjoyable to eat as the duck ragu coated the pasta nicely. Mmmm-mmm-mm! *smacking lips*
It was not easy feat to coordinate lunch with PF, being a new mommy and all. Baby K joined us for our girly lunch and was offline for a bit in the beginning as she dozed off in babyland, but woke up just in time for a photo. At one point, PF left to use the bathroom and I could immediately see Baby K starting to have a panic attack. She looked at me, then around herself, back at me, around herself again, then realized her mommy wasn’t in sight, so her lower lips started curling, and then…. BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLED. -_-”
Hahaha, babies are so funny like that. They just don’t hold back, do they? And am I the only who finds this amusing?
Baby K was soon humored once again in Mommy’s presence and began displaying curiosity of her surrounding. Meanwhile, I’m starting to get the hang of doing this midweek “taitai-esque” lunch thingie. Hee hee!
As for Spruce itself: creative menu, reasonable prices, great flavours, good portions, cozy ambiance. In Yelp fashion, I’m giving it a 5-star (outta 5) rating. :) I definitely see myself going there again, although I heard it gets very crowded during the weekend. Brunch crowd, I was told. Best to call ahead and secure a reservation.
