There’s a new premium ice cream brand in town called The Inspired Chef and the ice cream flavors are created by four renowned local chefs who have highly-reputable restaurants in Singapore. I’ve got first dibs on the ice creams!
(And read on to find out how you can be one of the first few in Singapore to get this ice cream for FREE.)
The Inspired Chef’s signature ice cream experience is a testament to the chefs who created these ice cream flavors and their achievements. These four chefs – Willin Low from Wild Rocket, Pang from Antoinette, Daniel Tay from Bakerzin, and Janice Wong from 2am: dessertbar – are established leaders in the field of experimental and artisanal desserts. I’m sure their names and the restaurants/bakeries are not strangers to you. They have won acclaim as maestros whose creations are as original and unique as their personalities. Collectively, their determined pursuit of excellence has raised the culinary bar in Singapore.
Ice creams from The Inspired Chef are produced locally and each flavor is an original creation of each chef named above. The four unique flavors of ice cream are:
- Raspberry Cheesecake Rumble (by Pang, owner, Sugar Daddy Group & Antoinette)
- Caramel Popcorn Avalanche (by Janice Wong, founder and owner of 2am:dessertbar and restaurant)
- Divine Chocolate Tart (by Daniel Tay, creator & founder, Bakerzin)
- Double Peanut Fudge (by Willin Low, creator & founder, Wild Rocket)
I sampled two out of the four flavors: Caramel Popcorn Avalanche and Double Peanut Fudge.
Caramel Popcorn Avalanche – by Chef Janice Wong, is a rich sea salt ice cream bathed in sweet caramelized popcorn and crunchy pecan nut bits topped with sea salt caramel swirls.
Chef Janice is inspired by Asian flavours and her creations are an incorporation of ingredients and childhood memories from Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. Her never ending passion for the culinary art has propelled her forward to test the limits of dessert making, including constantly blurring the boundaries between sweet and savory.
Double Peanut Fudge – by Chef Willin Low, is a sumptuous peanut butter ice cream infused with bits of crunchy Asian peanut candy brittle and deep dark chocolate fudge goodness.
Chef Willin is currently the mastermind behind Wild Rocket, where he has applied his culinary philosophy of serving food that he himself would love to eat – western food with a local twist. Local flavours, hawker fare and childhood treats serve as his inspiration and are reflected in every one of his creations.
After getting to know the chefs’ signature styles and/or culinary philosophies, their ice cream creations make sense to me and I “get” it. I appreciate the ice creams with a better understanding of each chef’s concept in coming up with these flavors. On its own, the ice creams taste pretty good too. While the ingredients/flavors aren’t exactly super avant-garde in my opinion, there’s a level of sophistication in these premium ice creams. I enjoyed both flavors that I’ve sampled.
The other thing that sets The Inspired Chef apart from other ice cream brands is that you can be order the ice creams ONLINE via The Inspired Chef website and get them delivered to your doorstep by TIC’s very own delivery guys. Now that’s something that I’ll happily raise my dessert spoon anyday to!
